The magnificent Sri Veerabhadra Temple & iconic monolithic Nandi are considered for the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Tentative list. Sri Veerabhadra Temple of Andhra Pradesh is, also popularly known as Lepakshi temple, is dedicated to Lord Veerabhada. The temple's walls display intricate sculptures depicting various stories of Mahabharata and Ramayana.
Built by Vijayanagara rulers in the 16th century, this temple is an extraordinary example of timeless art and engineering. The first thing you notice in the temple complex is the large monolithic Nandi structure.
Inside the temple, there are exceptional sculptures everywhere. Another engineering marvel of this temple is among its 70 stone pillars supporting the roof, and one of these pillars is not touching the floor.
